A pair of heels or dress shoes can wreak havoc on your feet, especially the ball of the foot. This front area of the foot, comprised of the metatarsal bones, is very sensitive and prone to soreness and damage when too much pressure is put on it. Heels and dress shoes tend to apply pressure toward the front of the foot. Place these soft pads on the top of your orthotics, lining up the rounded end of the pad with the end of the hard plastic part of the orthotic. This will help transfer weight away from the metatarsal bones and relieve pinched nerves.
